Items make up the labor and materials that go into building a home.
Key Item Concepts
Items in BuilderZen reside at a master level, without any room, option or pricing context. This allows the items to be used across multiple plans and communities while enabling different pricing per community and/or plan. This also significantly reduces the number of items a builder has to manage.
Items are used to create takeoff estimates. The same items are also used in the Vendors area to define vendor contract pricing.
Takeoff estimates and Vendor contract prices then come together in the context of a community to generate a consistent Floorplan Budget with pricing for a given plan in a given community.
Associating Items in plan and community takeoffs with Choices (covered in the next section) allows builders to control when the material is included in a Floorplan Budget or a Job Budget.
