Find/Replace
The Find/Replace feature can be found in the browser tool bar in browser list views indicated by the presence of a Find/Replace button. Find/Replace allows multiple records to be updated at once.
For example, if there are several takeoff items that all need to be changed to a certain cost code, Find/Replace allows the user to change all takeoff items at once, within a layer. Find/Replace will find the original value on all of the takeoff items and replace it with a new value.
Note
It is important to use filters before using Find/Replace. Find/Replace will work through all takeoff items in the layer unless a filter is applied. If a filter is applied, Find/Replace will only look at the records that are part of the filtered list.
To find and replace data in a filtered data set, click the Find/Replace button in the browser toolbar.
The data to be replaced should be entered on the left of the screen, and the new information is entered on the right of the screen. Verify the information is correct and click Submit.
WARNING
Double-check your find and replace criteria to ensure the desired outcome before using this tool. For example, by changing the Status ID of a vendor from Active to Inactive without filtering the data set to the exact vendor, all vendors would be set to Inactive!
